After the announcement of the 2011 American Music Awards nominees last Tuesday, the AMAs have also revealed its performers and hosts of its 2011 show.
This year, Young Money’s first lady Nicki Minaj and Pitbull will both host the show together. The two originally teamed up at the press conference for the announcement of the nominees, of which both are nominated for two awards each.
Not only is Nicki Minaj a nominee and a host, but she is also lined up to be one of the performers that night as well.
Last week, she expressed her gratitude, saying, "Me, I come to the awards shows and I just learn, I watch everyone, I see how they handle their performances and hopefully grab a couple things and apply it to my career. So to be here nominated and to also be performing at the AMAs, I want to thank you."
Along with Minaj, other artists set to take stage for the 2011 AMAs include chart-toppers Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, David Guetta, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson and LMFAO. It has also been confirmed that Guetta will be performing his Usher-assisted single “Without You,” and Maroon 5 are slated to perform their “Moves Like Jagger” track, which features Christina Aguilera.
Performers Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, LMFAO, Maroon 5, and Katy Perry are all hoping to take home awards that night as well. Both LMFAO and Maroon 5 are set to go head-to-head in the Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group category, along with OneRepublic. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber will be up against Pitbull in their respected category each – Lopez will be up against Pitbull in the Favorite Latin Artist, while Bieber in the Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. Soul singer Adele leads all nominees with four nods.
For the fifth year, winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can log onto amavote.com or ama.abc.com to cast their votes starting today until Friday, November 11th at 11:59PM PST.
The winners will be announced during the live broadcast of the 2011 American Music Awards from LA's Nokia Theatre on ABC on November 20th at 8PM EST.
